But maybe the answer isn’t in a new plan.

Maybe it’s not about fixing anything at all.


Maybe what you need is…

a recalibration.


Not a reset that wipes the slate clean.

Not a breakdown that takes you out.


But a return.

To your body.

To your truth.

To your natural rhythm.


I’m going to walk you through what recalibration actually means, how to recognise when you need one, and how to move through it in a way that’s gentle, sustainable, and real.


Because you don’t need another productivity hack.

You need space.

You need clarity.

You need to come home to yourself.

And that’s exactly where we’re headed.


It’s important to understand, that recalibration isn’t quitting.

It’s not falling behind.

It’s not “giving up.”


It’s course-correcting toward who you really are.

It’s the moment you stop chasing clarity outside of yourself…

and start trusting the wisdom within you again.


And here’s what I know for sure:

If your nervous system doesn’t feel safe — you’ll keep choosing hustle over truth.

Approval over alignment.

Control over connection.


This is something Dr. Gabor Maté talks about often — how so many of us have learned to abandon ourselves in subtle, daily ways in order to be loved, accepted, or seen as “good.”


And the cost of that is not just emotional.

It’s physical.


He says: “When we shut down our authentic selves to be accepted, we pay for it with our health.”


Self-abandonment creates dis-ease.

In our bodies.

In our minds.

In our leadership.


And we don’t undo that with more pushing.

We heal it by learning how to come back — slowly, gently — to what’s true for us.


Dr. Libby Weaver refers to this as “rushing woman’s syndrome.”

That chronic state of doing, pushing, giving — often from depletion.

She explains how so many women are stuck in a constant sympathetic nervous system response — alert, hyperproductive, and quietly exhausted.

She says: “When you’re always doing, there’s no space to hear your intuition.”


That’s it, right?


When you’re constantly on, constantly managing everything, constantly overriding your own signals — you stop being able to feel what you actually need.


So recalibration is the pause that brings your wisdom back online.


It’s the space that says: You’re safe now.

You don’t have to earn your worth with output.

You don’t have to keep sprinting on a path that no longer feels right.

You’re allowed to stop.

You’re allowed to breathe.

You’re allowed to lead from softness — not survival.


Because when you feel safe — not just in your mind, but in your body — everything changes.


Your voice gets louder.

Your choices get clearer.

Your leadership becomes rooted, instead of rattled.


That’s the power of recalibration.

It’s leadership that starts from within.


Signs You Might Need a Recalibration

So, how do you actually know if you’re due for a recalibration?

Because let’s be real — most of us have gotten so good at coping that we barely notice we’re off course.

We override.

We normalise the tension.

We slap a “gratitude” sticker over burnout and keep going.


But here’s what I want you to hear:

You don’t have to fall apart to justify a reset.

Recalibration doesn’t require a breakdown.


It starts with noticing the subtle signs — the ones you’ve probably brushed off as “just being busy,” “just a phase,” or “just life.”


So let’s name them:

You’re doing all the “right” things… but feel completely disconnected.

On paper, you’re ticking the boxes.


But inside? You feel flat.

You’ve lost the spark.

You’re performing competence, not feeling aliveness.

You feel busy, but blurry.

You’re always doing — but you can’t remember why.

Everything’s urgent. Everything’s important.


But none of it feels true.


And deep down, you’re craving stillness.

You’re easily agitated, depleted, resentful.

Little things are setting you off.

You’re snappy with your kids, distracted in conversations, secretly simmering under the surface.


Because your nervous system is tapped out.


You keep looking outside yourself for answers.

The next course, the next plan, the next mentor, the next fix.

You’re hoping someone else has the clarity you can’t seem to find.

And while support is powerful — if you don’t trust your own knowing, nothing will stick.

Your body is whispering “slow down”… but you’re scared to listen.

You feel it.

That edge of burnout.

That tug to pause, to question, to breathe.


But slowing down feels dangerous — like if you stop, everything will fall apart.

So you keep going.

Even though the going is what’s hurting.


And sometimes, the signs are not loud.

They’re subtle.

They show up in women like this…


There’s a woman I know — let’s call her Emma.

She’s been working in HR for over 15 years.

She’s smart. Compassionate. Incredibly capable.

She knows how to calm a room, diffuse tension, and keep things moving.

She’s the one everyone comes to when things are messy — which is basically every day.


Her team is great at what they do, but they’re constantly being pushed, questioned, challenged.


And when things start to unravel? Emma’s the fixer.

She smooths it over.

She mediates the conversations.

She steps in — even when it costs her energy she doesn’t have.

And then she goes home.

Where there are school bags on the floor, kids asking what’s for dinner, and a husband who loves her… but also doesn’t see just how much she’s holding.

She’s exhausted.


Not just physically — existentially.

She doesn’t feel connected to her work anymore.

She doesn’t know if HR is even right for her… but she’s been doing it so long, she has no idea what else she could do.

She feels stuck.

And the scary part?

She’s not in crisis.

She’s just… fading.

Losing energy, losing spark, losing connection to herself.

Emma doesn’t need a new productivity system.

She needs a recalibration.


Because that feeling she has — the quiet “I don’t know who I am in this anymore”…

That’s the signal.

That’s her nervous system saying, “This version of leadership isn’t sustainable anymore.”

How to Recalibrate Using the Natural Leader Model

So let’s say you’re listening and you’re nodding along, thinking:

“Yep, I’m tired. I’m misaligned. I can feel it. But what the hell do I do with that?”


You don’t need to quit your job tomorrow.

You don’t need to escape to Bali or delete Instagram or find your “passion” by next Friday.

You need to recalibrate.

The first pillar GROWTH — this is awareness of What’s Not Working


This is where recalibration starts — not in doing, but in noticing.

It’s where you gently take the blindfold off.

Where you stop gaslighting yourself.


Where you say: “Okay, this version of success? It’s not working for me anymore.”


Example?

Let’s go back to our HR manager.


In Growth, she begins to realise that the resentment she’s feeling every Monday isn’t just “end of school holidays blues.”


It’s her body waving a red flag.

She notices how often she’s saying yes when her gut says no.

She finally admits she dreads those stakeholder meetings — not because she’s not capable, but because she’s performing a version of herself that feels fake.


Growth means telling the truth — first to yourself.

Tools like journaling, Human Design, or even voice noting your thoughts during your commute can help you see yourself clearly, maybe for the first time in years.

And that clarity? That’s your foundation.


The second pillar TRANSFORMATION — this is about releasing the Old

Now that you’ve named what’s not working…you’ve got to let it go.

Not all at once.

Not in a blaze of drama.

But piece by piece.

This is where the undoing happens.


Example?

Our HR manager starts setting tiny boundaries.

She gives her team more space instead of stepping in to fix everything.

She lets her boss know she won’t be answering emails after dinner anymore — even if it feels awkward at first.

She begins working with a coach, and suddenly all this tension she’s been holding in her body? It starts to have a voice.


Maybe for the first time in her career, she cries after a meeting — and doesn’t apologise for it.

She’s shedding.

She’s untangling herself from the roles she’s been praised for but never felt at home in.


In Transformation, the nervous system catches up with the truth.

This is where somatic practices, emotional processing, and even grieving your former identity come into play.

This part is tender. But it’s powerful.

Because the more you release, the more room you create for you.


And then the third pillar, ESSENCE — this is you returning to Your Natural Leadership


Now we arrive.

This is where you don’t just understand yourself — you start living as her.

You come back into your body.

You trust your own timing.

You stop outsourcing your clarity.

You realise you don’t need to be louder, or tougher, or “more strategic” to lead.

You need to be more yourself.


Our HR manager?

She starts asking, “What do I actually want now?”

She remembers how she used to love coaching people 1:1 — not firefighting office politics.

She starts putting her energy into that.

She initiates deeper conversations with her team.

She builds micro-moments of joy into her day — music, movement, journaling.

She stops tolerating what drains her — not out of rebellion, but because her energy matters now.


And maybe the biggest shift?

She no longer needs to prove herself.

She just is herself.


This is Essence.


This is your natural leadership.


It’s not a role.

It’s not a strategy.

It’s a frequency.

It’s what happens when you stop pretending… and start embodying.


And here’s the heart of it:

You don’t recalibrate by trying harder.

You recalibrate by coming home.

You feel your way back.

Back to your body.

Back to your truth.

Back to the version of leadership that doesn’t burn you out — it brings you alive.


Reflection Prompt

Take a breath.

Maybe even close your eyes for a moment — unless you’re driving.

And ask yourself:


What part of me is asking to be released… and what part of me is quietly waiting to return?

You don’t need to have the full answer yet.

Just notice what whispers back.


If Gabor Maté was sitting with us right now, I think he’d say something like this:

“Who you had to be to survive is not who you’re meant to stay.”


Because for so many women, over-functioning, over-achieving, over-giving — that’s not just habit.

It’s protection.

It’s the way we learned to stay safe.


To earn love.

To keep the peace.

To feel valuable.


But as Dr. Maté says, the cost of that adaptation is authenticity — and over time, authenticity denied becomes illness, disconnection, or quiet despair.


Recalibration is how we repair that split.


Not by forcing ourselves to change…but by slowly creating the safety to return to who we were before the world told us who to be.


So if your body is asking for something different now…listen.

Not because something’s wrong.

But because something real is trying to come through.
